Anichess Launches Into Public Alpha With a New PvP Mode
Anichess is now in public alpha with a new PvP mode, letting players test their chess problem solving skills against other players. They have also partnered with Yield Guild Games to expand their player outreach.
The public alpha version of Anichess, a ground-breaking strategy game based on chess and created by Animoca Brands in collaboration with Chess.com and five-time World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen, is now available. With its innovative twist on one of the oldest and most popular games in the world, chess, the game combines traditional chess with a unique spell-based system and decentralized web3 elements. The launch of the game signifies a major milestone for the game.
Anichess has also announced a partnership with Yield Guild Games (YGG), one of the top decentralized gaming communities, as part of its expansion strategy. This collaboration will concentrate on spreading Anichess throughout Southeast Asia, a crucial area where the product has already attracted a lot of interest. Southeast Asia is one of the top three regions with the most registered players on Anichess, and this partnership represents an ambitious effort to boost player base growth and engagement even more.
What’s New in the Game?
Season 3 of the game is accompanied by the public alpha version, which adds a number of new features. After the earlier release of player-versus-environment (PvE) spell chess puzzles earlier in the year, players have been eager to play player-versus-player (PvP) matches. Four unique game modes are also available in the alpha version: friend match, bot match, quick match, and ranked match. Players can play casual games with friends, advance in competitive matches, or compete against AI opponents thanks to this variety. In order to enhance the depth and strategy of their chess gameplay, players will also be able to unlock new spells as they advance through the game.
Since its soft launch in January 2024, Anichess has seen remarkable engagement, with over one million registered wallets and a player base of 30,000 monthly active users. These players have collectively solved over 50 million chess puzzles and logged more than 14 million minutes of total gameplay. The game’s unique blend of chess and spell mechanics has proven to be a hit among players, and the public alpha is expected to further grow its user base.
