Sparkball: Soccer MOBA in Web3
Sparkball is an exciting game that combines two genres: soccer and MOBA. How well this combination has succeeded is an interesting question. Our team from the Synergy guild decided to explore this. This Saturday, we participated in a tournament organized by Lizard Labs and were pleasantly surprised. But first things first.
The game itself is presented as a soccer field with one tower and a goal. You cannot destroy the goal and tower by brute force, so you have to score the ball into the tower or the goal and then break the crystals to deal additional damage.
In this, you will be helped by characters who differ in their roles in soccer and MOBA. Various dashes, amounts of crowd control, and healing — all of this is present in Sparkball. The only thing that limits you is your understanding of the combination of the two games, and nothing more.
The Competitive Aspect of the Game
The competitive aspect of the game is highlighted very well and noticeably — everything depends on your skill. You know, mastering the ball is not enough, just as skillfully controlling the character. You need to combine these two skills and blend seamlessly into the game.
If you think you can win the game simply by winning team fights, you are mistaken — we thought so too. Until we met a team that managed to ignore fights and play with the ball, thereby defeating us in the tournament finals. But after seeing how the developers play, we realized that none of us knew how to play this game correctly.
It’s interesting and engaging because no other web3 game has been able to bring such a competitive spirit.

After participating in the tournament, we realized that the game is designed for holding tournaments. We also had the opportunity to talk with the game developers, who turned out to be positive and hardworking.
They gave our Synergy guild the opportunity to host a tournament on their behalf with rewards in the future. So, in the future, expect a tournament from our guild with good prizes.
