Introduction
Shrapnel is a new project led by the award-winning team from the NEON, BAFTA, and Emmy competitions. It is a multiplayer first-person shooter on the blockchain where every item (excluding consumables) is an NFT. Developers offer players the opportunity to earn both in-game and beyond by creating maps or items using presets provided by the developers.
Gameplay
The gameplay process will closely resemble games like Escape From Tarkov and Marauders. However, unlike them, the competition in this game revolves around meteorites. Players must gather them and exit the zone by reaching a helicopter. This entire process appears dynamic and energetic.
Shrapnel lets you choose one of three operatives with different classes, each influencing gameplay through its own set of passive talents. Players can experiment with other classes without fully committing to them.
NFTs in the game manifest as equipment items, weapons, armor, gear, and weapon enhancements. It’s crucial to note that upon dying in a raid, you lose all items. Approaching each raid preparation responsibly is essential. Teaming up, possibly in groups of two, may be beneficial for securing the deceased partner’s items.
Content Creation
The game introduces a way to earn through crafting items and maps, along with a product promotion system. Crafting items results in rewards from developers instead of a percentage of sales. Crafting maps involves seeking sponsors to help promote the map. The more players engage with your map, the higher it climbs in rankings, yielding more SHRAP rewards. The top podium may host up to 6 maps, likely to change periodically.
Development Stage
As of now, the game is in a closed development stage. The developers initially planned to launch early access in December 2023 for pack owners but decided to postpone it to 2024, coinciding with the announcement of rewards for the leaderboard. This delay is expected to allow them to refine the game for a better release.
