Calamity: A Fun ARPG in Web3
Calamity is a game inspired by projects like World of Warcraft, Lineage, Diablo, and Albion Online. So, what did they end up with? They created a game that closely resembles Hero Siege. Boss battles, enemies with skill-dodging mechanics, grabbing you and not letting you rest for a minute. A dynamic blend of Path of Exile and World of Warcraft, combined quite well by the developers. This can be confirmed by the sales of in-game NFTs.
Regarding NFTs The developers have announced a series of upcoming and rewarding game tests for their NFT holders. The NFTs themselves are individual slots in your inventory, which can be viewed on OpenSea: https://opensea.io/collection/calamity-artifacts-official.
Artifacts, in turn, increase the amount of experience gained and enhance Magic Find (an attribute affecting the rarity of dropped items). If you happen to like the project, you can purchase an NFT (this is not advice, just stating the possibility of participating in future events).
What about gameplay?
Although the game looks like a Hero Siege clone, the developers decided to implement a targeted combat system. Overall, this doesn’t stop you from crushing enemies with a large arsenal of AoE skills.
The game features a character class system and specializations through the use of different types of weapons. There are three classes in the game:
- Warrior — a master of the two-handed sword or two-handed axe.
- Ranger — an archer wielding a bow or crossbow.
- Mage — a wizard who can hold either an ice staff or a fire blade.
Items are obtained in dungeons, and each item has its own skills and attributes that are randomly generated, so you definitely won’t be able to create your “dream build” in a day.
Each type of weapon gives characters different types of skills, two of which are unique to that item and two for another type of weapon. This allows for combining and creating unique combinations. There are also classes of armor with different skills, and no one stops you from dressing a warrior in a robe.
The first test is scheduled for July 8 and will last only 3 days, so there is still time to join.
To participate in the test, you need to open a “ticket” on the Calamity Discord server in the “support-and-collab” tab and provide your email address. After that, you will be given a game access key and added to a special test chat. All this is only for NFT holders.
