Sign up on Moonfrost official website for a chance at receiving a code for Alpha Release 5. Which is launching on the Epic Games Store with a variety of big updates, including an overhaul of the Task System, the integration of XP, introduction of a new event-based game mode, and more.
Though this “isn’t the biggest update” according to the Discord announcement. The patch notes reveal a variety of big new additions and improvements, among which is even another new game mode.
To make sure the new game mode in Moonfrost is as fun as possible. The team is updating Build Mode with various improvements. These upgrades include accurate item placement, and the addition of wall occlusion to make it easier to see what you’re doing. Roofs are also mentioned in the list of updates. But these are said to be a work in progress and as such will not be available in this latest launch.
Alongside welcome changes to Build Mode, the game is officially getting an XP system. Meaning you will now be able to level up by earning XP from doing Tasks and crafting Blueprints. This will give you the opportunity to show off “your achievements (via House Hunter events) and climb the ranks as a top-tier FROST-Hunter.”
The Task System is getting an overhaul to make it “more dynamic, impactful, and FUN.” To do this, Task System 2.0 is bringing special XP-based Tasks and the ability to unlock new gameplay features by completing certain missions. Daily Tasks are also said to be important to complete if you want to gain Craftcoin. Which will be needed for the House Hunters event. Next to Walter and Ash, you will now also pick up quests from 2 new NPCs.
How to Participate?
The standalone launcher will not be supported for this release. As much as the team wants to give players another option next to Epic’s launcher. The patch notes state that their custom launcher is “too costly to maintain” during this alpha phase. If you played through the studio’s launcher before, don’t worry. You will get to claim a code that you can redeem in the Epic Games Store to play this new version.
If you’ve never participated in previous Alpha Releases and would like to jump in now. You should sign up on the game’s official website before December 9th. The team states that there are 1000 new codes up for grabs. So be sure to sign up as soon as possible, as these codes are distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Once you get the code, make sure to redeem it within 72 hours. If you don’t, the team will remove your code and give it to someone else instead.
