What is The Machines Arena
On April 23, open beta testing began for The Machines Arena, an action third-person shooter produced by Directive Games. We are observing the changes that have occurred in the game after closed tests and want to share our impressions.
The game can be described as a mix of Diablo and Valorant. Just like in Valorant, we play as operatives, each of whom has their own unique playstyle, abilities and skills, but all this with a third-person top-down view.
To start playing, you must download the game through the Epic Games Store. Currently, the game is available not only on PC but also on Android. You can download the mobile client from the game’s website; it is not yet available on Google Play.
The gameplay of The Machines Arena
Gameplay of the game has not changed since previous stage of the test. Fairly simple main menu greets us at the start, nothing complicated, everything is intuitive.
The game offers training, PVP, PVE modes and also the ability to create your own lobby. The PVE mode here is called Death Run, it is another variation on the roguelike theme with clearing rooms of mobs, fighting sub-bosses at the end of the floors, and fighting the final boss at the end of the run.
The main interest is multiplayer. There are three main modes in PVP: Detonation mod, in which players are divided into attackers and defenders. The former, in the best traditions of Counter Strike, must carry and plant a bomb on A and B spots. And the latter must hinder them in every possible way.
Pushback is also played by two teams, each must try to push a cart into the enemy’s base within a certain timer, after which the team that was able to push the cart further from its base is considered the winner.
Skirmish is a standard team deathmatch for frags. Whoever scored 35 kills first wins the game.
There are 9 characters available for the game. 3 tanks, 3 assault characters and 3 support characters.
We won’t describe them all, but each has its own unique guns and abilities, so any player will find something that suits his tastes. With the latest update, players now have access to familiars—pets that provide a passive buff for the player.
About the blockchain in The Machines Arena
And now to the fun part. Although Directive Games is not a well-known studio, they were one of the first whose game was launched on the Ronin blockchain, from the creators of the game Axie Infinity, Sky Mavis.
At the moment, you can mint purchased skins, as well as skins received during the past PVP seasons and beta test phases. To do this, you need to have a Ronin wallet linked to the game site with a small amount of $RON to pay the commission. Choose an available skin and mint it. The same procedure is available for familiars.
You can sell and buy skins on the Mavis Market platform. Remember that investing always carries risks, but overall $RON staking is an interesting opportunity.
Results
In general, The Machines Arena is a good game for this segment; you can have fun in it with a couple of friends, or run solo in PVE mode. Although it is not something new in this genre. It was launched on the well-established Ronin blockchain, so the future of the project can be traced. The disadvantages include the presence of bots in matchmaking. Most players will be willing to wait an extra couple of minutes for the game rather than end up in a team with two or three bots.
